Re: Super Turbine 400 where does this piece go? FIXED

I am working on a 1965 ST400. I was cleaning and blowing off the pump cover
when this piece flew out and hit me in the face. I is very flexable and i think it may go
around a valve, but I am not sure? I have a few pics attached. Any Ideas
Thanks

I only remember this as a piece from a 325. It was a converter out check valve. It was coiled up and inserted in the channel plate

I am thinking it wraps around a valve as it flew out when i was blowing the pump cover off.

425 shows coiled up in a pocket in cover about 1 inch in diameter

If you look close a the pictures you will see a small wear pattern close to the one end.
I am thinking it wraps around the convertor valve. This ST400 cover has a convertor valve
in it. Thanks so much for the help, I am going in the right direction.

OK thanks guys with your help i go this figured out. You are right
it is a "convertor out check valve" and it keeps the convertor from draining
when the engine is off. I will include two pictures, the second one is where it goes
wih a screw driver in the feed hole it controls. The first one is with it installed.
Convertor pressure unseats it and then flows to the cooler. Below it is a safty bypass
to allow lube flow if the cooler becomes blocked. This bypass feature was used from
1964 to 1967.
Thanks
