Does the 48re have problem breaking the tapered end off the park rod?

I haven't heard of it being a big issue myself , not like the 6L80/90 units

This truck is a diesel ,built 01/03. It has a reman in it,which apparently is a 47re,at least od section. It came in no park. The end of the park rod was in 2 pieces, replaced rod lasted 3 days, same thing.I ordered rod for 48re ,but end is too big.Has anyone had a problem with the 47re rods? Thanks in advance,Roy.

if it is just the bullet part breaking I would check the pawl and the part that forces it in for wear . also check the rooster comb for wear and the detent ball pocket , maybe it is getting stuck and the driver is forcing it .

Everything looks good ,no wear on pawl or other part. what is the difference between 47 and 48 of ring gear besides wider lugs?

The park rod and some of the other parking assembly parts are heavier on the 48RE.
I ran into this a while back. I will see if i can find the info for you.

In the ATSG Manual for the 46RE. 47RE, 48RE (printing April 1, 2011)
on page 96 and 106 it shows the differences. Can you email me at
rodgroy@gmail.com and i can email it to you.
