NP203 transfer case

Post by doverderrick » Thu May 01, 2014 4:19 pm

Has anyone ever installed a lock-out/conversion kit in a NP203 transfer case so that it creates a 2WD option? Had a customer inquire and wasn't sure how difficult it was to do.

I used to do a lot of the conversions. They are pretty easy. It would take about 2 to 3 hours. You can do it in the truck. The kit I used had parts to lock the diff, a new output shaft and a set of front hubs that you could lock and unlock. You can search the internet and find the kits, or maybe your local 4X4 shop. I'm not sure which one is best. You'll have to check around. You can also search You Tube for videos that will show you the procedures. The big benefit was improved gas mileage.
