48RE Direct clutch burnup FIXED!!
2005 48RE Electric T.V. motor unit behind chipped Cummins. Burned up the direct clutches twice in less than 500 miles. Aftermarket Direct drum and piston, (6) red clutches, stock type steels, modified pressure plate on snap ring edge for clearance, .085" clutch clearance, Sonnax red intermediate servo, Transgo reprograming kit and stock type steel sealing rings on Stator. Stater was reconditioned (flattened) on the pump gear side. Any ideas??

I do not , and I did not see anything on just the directs burning . All I can say is make sure it air checks good which you probably have already done .

Re: 48RE Direct clutch burnup
did you check with it in the case , maybe a hairline crack in the case . Do not use full shop air , use regulated air around 30 psi , that may give you a better idea .

Re: 48RE Direct clutch burnup
also check with the pump together before installed in the case , the stators warp pretty bad too .

Re: 48RE Direct clutch burnup
What is the total unit end play? Direct may have enough clearance to drop off sealing ring or that clutch stack up may come off the hub and jam them.
