VT25E NO MOVEMENT AFTER REBUILD

Post by transpck08 » Tue Oct 18, 2016 7:36 pm

Did my first VT25E and the car wont move forward or reverse. I put the rebuild kit, bonded pistons, forward planet, torque converter filter. The belt and pulleys were good. Any ideas? What went wrong was the bearing with the seal that sits on the planet went out.

That's what a couple of friends suggested. I hope i did forget to hook it but in case it is hooked up what else can it be? Can it be a tcm reset issue or programming?

Dave, its a bench job. The shop said they will remove the pan today and check if the manual valve is hooked up. Will keep you posted. I also saw a GM TSB that states the chain can cause a no movement but i am assuming that it is when the chain breaks off.

UPDATE:

The installing shop took off the pan and the manual valve is hooked up. Internal issue for sure. Is there a way to air check the pulley to see if they move? i air checked the reverse clutch pack and it applied at 30psi on the bench.

I have no experience on this one but I've done all kinds of the Nissan CVT. Yeah you should be able to air check the pulley. Doubtful it will move at all but you should be able to hear if it leaks or not.

UPDATE:

Just took it apart and can't seem to find anything wrong. Sealing rings are not torn, lip seals are not torn. I even air checked the pulley and it moves up and down. I was wondering how many quarts of fluid it takes dry. Mitchell says 8.5qts and thats what went into the unit. The grease that i used to hold the checkballs didnt even melt or any other place i used it on.

Perhaps the splines in the convertor are stripped.
